Dr. Shauntae Brown White Biography
Dr. Shauntae has a passion for women and is known for her engaging workshops in which she challenges audiences to apply learned knowledge to their everyday lives.
During her early years, she observed the power of the spoken word to make or break relationships. Because of the impact of that awareness, she majored in journalism at Howard University, where she earned a B.A. She went on to earn a M.A. degree in Speech Communication from the University of Alabama and a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Shauntae is currently a
professor in Mass
Communication at North
Carolina Central University
where she also serves as
coordinator of the Women’s
& Gender Studies Program.
She has written several
academic articles and book
chapters and is the author
of The First Lady: African
American Pastors’ Wives in
Their Own Words and the
co-editor of
Representations of Black
Womanhood on Television:
Being Mara Brock Akil.
Shauntae is married to her longtime college friend, the Rev. Dr. Harry L. White, Jr., who pastors Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. They have two daughters.
